Commencement Speech: "Make Good Art"

A friend shared with me this video of Neil Gaiman's May 17, 2012 commencement speech to the graduates of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

It's quite wise and wonderful, and more than worth 20 minutes of anyone's time, no matter what phase of life you're currently in.

  1. This YouTube link is quite wonderful. I just finished back-to-back The Graveyard Book and The Ocean at the End of the Lane, and the Neil Gaiman who gives this commencement address exactly expresses the spirit that I felt moving in those novels. Thanks for posting it.

  2. You're welcome--a very good friend of mine sent it to me--she's a Neil Gaiman fan. I need to read him... this summer, maybe...

Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, "Life is short, but there is always time for courtesy."
