"Break Your Heart"

I was always a fan of Natalie Merchant's work.
Don't spread the discontent, don't spread the lies
Don't make the same mistakes with your own life
And don't disrespect yourself, don't lose your pride
And don't think everybody is gonna choose your side...
Mutual respect isn't supposed to be contingent upon total agreement.

Honesty isn't optional.

And people aren't here just for our own use and benefit.

So many people try to be so much better than that.

In the end, those people end up gravitating towards one another and their energy becomes a force all its own.  And the others are eventually just left behind, in the same place they've always been.

My best friend found out yesterday that the parents and the coach of her other son's baseball team took up a collection so that they wouldn't have to pay his hotel fee to stay overnight if they went to the playoffs.  They had also made arrangements so that he would be able to travel with the coach's family, if my friend was unable to take him.

"The everyday kindness of the back roads more than makes up for the acts of greed in the headlines."  ~Charles Kuralt
